Time: 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Children today, as well as their teachers and caregivers, are meeting a world that is changing from an information age to new times that require flexibility, skill, and creativity. Drawing from the skills necessary for literacy, we find themes that guide us to seeing and working in a future that balances self-reliance with teamwork. Themes of the conference address nurturing whole brain development as a preparation for an emerging era that will require conceptualization and creativity. Participants will explore activities that help us shift our current perspective of the learning process and provide tools for story-based learning.
Workshop titles include: Rhythm and Language, The Diverse Learner, Sound Therapy, and Whole Brain Gym.
Dr. Williams holds a doctorate in Teacher Education from Michigan State University, with a specialization in literacy studies. Currently an Assistant Professor in the Reading Program at Eastern Michigan University, Dr. Williams brings as many stories, songs, and movement exercises as she can to her mainstream teacher education students.
